POINT PLEASANT — The Mason County Fair begins on Monday.


Some things readers should know before heading out to the fair are listed below.


Season passes are $25, which does not include carnival rides though a carnival ride ticket may be purchased for $5 per day. Passes can be found at BB and T, Bob’s Market, City National Bank at the Mason, New Haven and Point Pleasant branches, Mason County Extension Office, Farmers Bank at the Mason and Point Pleasant branches, Foodland, Fruth’s Pharmacy, Health Aid Pharmacy, Ohio Valley Bank, Peoples Bank at the Main Street and North branches, Southern States, Thompson’s Hardware, Tobacco King in Mason and Yauger Farm Supply.


Daily admission to the fair is $8 per person. Anyone under the age of three is admitted for free. Daily admission tickets include carnival all six days. Senior Citizens Day will be Tuesday, Aug. 6 with seniors over the age of 60 admitted for free. Discount Days will be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when admission is $5 per person (includes carnival rides). Season ticket holders can purchase a ride ticket for $3 before 3 p.m.

9 a.m. fair opens, judging some departments closed; 10:30 a.m. Youth 4-H Horse Show; noon Balloon Sandwich; 4:45 p.m. Jason Eades Memorial Scholarship Award; 5 p.m. Market Hog Showmanship followed by Market Hog Show; Little Mister and Miss Mason County (Main Stage), Junior Market Hog Show; 6 p.m. Motorcycle /ATV Motocross; 7:45 p.m. Fair Dedication; 8 p.m. Fair Queen Contest Sponsored by Ohio Valley Bank (Main Stage); Annette Hanes Award and Amy Boggs Award, Brandy Barkey Community Service Award; 9:30 p.m. Greasy Pig (after Hog Show); 11 p.m. gates closed.
