A 23-year-old Sabina man was reportedly in critical condition Friday afternoon as the result of a vehicle crash on U.S. Route 22 West in front of Doug Marine Motors in Washington Court House.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Dustin J. Watson was driving his 1999 Chrysler Sebring eastbound on U.S. 22 at 2:18 p.m. Friday when the vehicle crossed the westbound lanes of the roadway, traveled off the road and then struck three unoccupied vehicles parked on the car dealership lot.

Watson “sustained obvious serious injuries and was entrapped in the vehicle, and had to be extracted by mechanical means,” according to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth. Once removed from the vehicle, Watson was taken to Fayette County Memorial Hospital and was then flown by Air Ambulance to Ohio State University Hospital for treatment.

Debris from the crash struck and damaged three other vehicles on the lot. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Stanforth said.

The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, Fayette County Emergency Medical Services, Washington C.H. Fire Department and Med-Flight #9 responded to the accident scene.
