POINT PLEASANT — An unofficial kickoff to next month’s Mothman Festival, the 2016 Mothman Festival Pageants, will take place this Saturday at the Trinity United Methodist Church auditorium.
Pageant officials are still seeking contestants for the ninth annual event. Those interested can apply the day of the pageant.
Age divisions are Tiny Miss (2-4), Little Miss (5-6), Little Mister (6-10), Young Miss (7-9), and Junior Miss (10-12). Registration is at noon for all contestants, those who are pre-registered and those who wish to sign up. Entry fee is $50. Attire is casual wear. This pageant takes place at 1 p.m.
Then, at 7 p.m., the pageant for Teen, Miss, Ms. and Mrs. will take place. Age groups are Teen (13-15), Miss (16-21), Ms. (22 and up), and Mrs. Registration is at 4 p.m. Entry fee is $75. Attire is “Moth Wear” and evening gown.
General admission for the pageant is $5. Children 5 and under get in free. Concessions will be sold and entertainment will be provided by Ohio River Dance.

Royalty crowned at this year’s pageants will participate in the Mothman Festival, which takes place Sept. 17-18 in downtown Point Pleasant. This is the 15th year of the festival and the 50th anniversary of the Mothman sightings.
