HENDERSON — Nearly a year after its special election, the Town of Henderson is preparing for its regularly scheduled general election on June 14.
Up for grabs will be seats for mayor, clerk and five council seats.
The filing period for the election was March 7-26, with town officials posting the information at the local post office as well as going door to door to spread the word.
In addition, those who wish to run as a write-in candidate still have time with that filing deadline being April 25. Those wishing to run as a write-in can visit the town clerk’s office to retrieve paperwork for a petition.
Incumbents running for election on June 14 are: Mayor Jack McCoy; Clerk Carolyn McCoy; Council members Rex Patterson, William Moore, Sheila Moore, Greg Winston. Stanley Cook is a new face running for George Neal’s council seat. Neal did not seek reelection.
Those who are elected on June 14 will serve four-year terms starting July 1. Early voting will also be available with dates announced prior to the early voting period in the Point Pleasant Register and at the Henderson Town Hall.
