Mason County Special Investigation Unit

On Tuesday, the Mason County Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested Rufus A. Wright, III, 27, Gallipolis, Ohio and charged him with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

According to a press release from the SIU, a traffic stop was conducted on Route 2 in Mason County in the Gallipolis Ferry area. As a result of the traffic stop, eight grams of alleged crystal meth were found, along with a set of scales.

Wright was en route to the Western Regional Jail as of Tuesday evening where he was awaiting his arraignment in Mason County Magistrate Court.

Assisting in this investigation are the West Virginia State Police and Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Veith and K-9 Jerry.

The SIU consists of personnel from the Mason County Sheriff’s Department and Point Pleasant Police Department. This is the fourth arrest in a month made as a result of investigations by the SIU.
