Traffic headache greets Point commuters

Staff Report

POINT PLEASANT — An unexpected traffic headache greeted commuters on Wednesday morning.

According to a statement from CSX, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a CSX train crew reported seeing a person on the tracks near 22nd Street in Point Pleasant and they stopped the train as a safety precaution. CSX notified Mason County emergency dispatchers and local authorities were able to locate the person, who was not injured.

After inspecting the train and verifying it was safe to proceed, the crew continued their route just under two hours later.

The closure caused traffic to come to a standstill in some places in Point Pleasant with morning commuters using Jericho Road and W.Va. 2 as a detour around the area.
