Meigs man arrested in Mason

MASON — A Long Bottom, Ohio man was arrested on a felony drug charge Saturday afternoon by the Mason Police Department.

Paul Larry Smith, Jr., 46, was charged with possession with intent to deliver after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for defective equipment, according to Police Chief Rich Gilkey.

The chief said nine small bags of alleged heroin and methamphetamines were found after Mason County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Veith and the K-9 unit were called to the scene. The arresting officer, Mason Sgt. Colton McKinney, transported Smith to the Western Regional Jail. Also assisting were Chief Gilkey and Mason Officer Sierra Carmichael.

Bond for Smith was set at $50,000 by Magistrate Gail Roush.
