HARTFORD — A new, ongoing benefit in support of the annual Bend Area Gospel Jubilee will begin Tuesday evening in Hartford.
Jubilee promoter Evelyn Roush said a gospel music sing will be held at 6 p.m. at the Hartford Community Center.
The stage will be open to all gospel music singers and musicians. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and groups can register upon arrival. Roush said those signing up will be given equal time to share their songs.
If the benefit is well attended, Roush stated it will continue to be held the third Tuesday of each month.
“Many fundraisers have been held over the past 27 years to promote the Bend Area Gospel Jubilee,” Roush said. “We are continuing the trend, which gives gospel music lovers an opportunity to support and feel a part in bringing local and national singing groups together for what has grown into a week of fellowship.”
She said many supporters and friends have come together in the past with gifts of food for fundraisers, singing at church benefits, and donating financially. Roush said those events will continue to be held as well, thanks to those generous people.
The 28th annual jubilee has been set for June 4 through 9 at the Jackson County Junior Fairgrounds in Cottageville. Past jubilees have seen singing groups come from Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland and West Virginia.
Admission to the benefit sing is free. Concessions will be sold, with all food sales supporting the jubilee.
