Point Pleasant Police Department

The Point Pleasant Police Department reports on Aug. 24, Joanna Jordan, 45, Leon, was arrested and charged with 12 felony counts of obtaining of a controlled substance by fraud, or forgery.

The PPPD reports a complaint was filed with the department by a local physician’s office reporting the possibility of an employee there writing herself prescriptions without the doctor’s knowledge or permission.

According to Chief Joe Veith, Jordan was arrested by Lt. M. Taylor who led the investigation. She appeared in Mason County Magistrate Court where her bond was set and posted at $26,000, according to a news release from the PPPD.

Any person found guilty of this crime may be imprisoned in the penitentiary for not less than one year, nor more than four years, or fined not more than $30,000 or both fined and imprisoned per charge.

Monthly activity report

In other PPPD news, the department’s most recent activity report to Point Pleasant City Council included the following: 46 citations written; seven misdemeanor arrests made; two felony arrests made; six accident reports taken; 47 complaint reports processed. Arrested and transported to the Western Regional Jail by PPPD officers were: Francis A. Hewitt, first degree arson, arson setting fire on lands. Tony. D. Sowards, public intoxication, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct. Penny R. Rollins, possession of controlled substance. Lora A. Terry, public intoxication, obstructing EMS personnel. Bruce L. Chapman, fugitive from justice.
