Area Bob Evans named ‘Restaurant of the Year’

GALLIPOLIS — Among the hundreds of stores across the country with the name Bob Evans on them, the Gallipolis store recently took home the franchise’s Restaurant of the Year award for its region.

According to Gallipolis Bob Evans Restaurant General Manager Robin Langford, she believes the store is one of five others to receive the award throughout the franchise. Langford started with Bob Evans as a server and eventually worked her way to general manager. She has served as such for a year but has worked with the store for a total of 12 years.

“The award is based on the performance of the restaurant throughout the whole year,” said Langford. “It could be down to things like guest satisfaction, the money the store has saved in certain areas and the goals we set and meet. It’s (in regard to) overall performance with the company.”

Langford said the Gallipolis store has around 55 employees, including management. Gallipolis store employees received a monetary bonus in connection with the top store award.

“I think a lot of the employees have been here for so long and they do more than just serve the guests,” said Langford. “They build relationships with them…We’ll see regulars and folks that like to come in on certain days of the week. You start to know them on a first name basis.”

Langford said this was the first time to her knowledge the Gallipolis restaurant has received the distinction. She said the store’s regional district operator, Jim Noe, has had a restaurant in his region receive the award three times over the course of his career. She said many of the employees with the company joke that Noe is one of the longest serving Bob Evans employees with 46 years under his belt.

“We are thrilled to award this honor to the employees at our Gallipolis restaurant,” said Noe in a statement. “Their passion for hospitality, creating highly satisfied guests and dedication to quality are a model for our system. They truly do treat strangers like friends and friends like family, just like Bob Evans used to say.”

Langford said being a store in the birth county of the Bob Evans franchise can add pressure to perform. However, she said the team is honored to have received the distinction of a top store and looks forward to challenging itself to earn the distinction of Restaurant of the Year again.
