Mason Police Department
A Mason man was arrested last week by the Mason Police Department on a felony charge of cultivating marijuana.
Tyler VanMeter, 29, was arrested on the charge Thursday, after police found 11 marijuana plants growing in VanMeter’s backyard, according to Police Chief Rich Gilkey. The plants ranged in size from two- to three-feet.
Gilkey said the department received a complaint in reference to drug activity at 125 Pomeroy Street. The chief, along with Officer Sierra Carmichael, investigated the complaint, which later led to the arrest. Also assisting were the New Haven Police Department and Mason County Sheriff’s Department.
VanMeter was arraigned with bond set at $5,000, which he posted, the chief said.
In a separate incident, the chief said a woman was recently charged with possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in municipal court.
Gilkey said the community has stepped up in providing tips that are leading to drug charges and arrests being made in the Bend Area. He stated all local police agencies have been working together to follow up on the tips.
