MIDDLEPORT — A Detroit man wanted for murder in Michigan was arrested on Thursday evening in Middleport.
In a news release, Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood reported that in a joint effort with the U.S. Marshals Service, the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission’s Gallia-Meigs Major Crime Task Force and the Meigs, Gallia and Washington County Sheriff’s Offices, Javion James Rodgers Jr., age 23, of Detroit, Michigan was arrested on a nationwide warrant for a murder charge out of Detroit, Michigan.
Rodgers Jr. was arrested by officers on South Third Avenue in Middleport on Thursday evening. Rodgers was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the jail on a fugitive from justice charge. He will appear in the Meigs County Court at a later date on the charge.
Sheriff Wood would like to thank all of the agencies involved in the capture of this very dangerous person.
Sheriff Wood states that community involvement is very important to the policing of our communities as an anonymous tip that was made to the Major Crimes Task Force led to a Task Force Agent making a positive identification on Rodgers which resulted in his arrest.
