POINT PLEASANT — The Kitchen Table ladies are back, serving up their summer meals program the Kid’s Kafe.
Kid’s Kafe is a series of meals held in the summer at various locations across Mason County to ensure no child goes without a meal while school is out. The first “feeding” of the summer is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., this Friday in the parking lot of Crow-Hussell Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
On the menu this week is pizza, chips, cookies and water. In addition, children will be given a “treat bag” with nonperishable food items they can take home. There are no income requirements to receive a free lunch or treat bag and no one will be turned away.
The Kitchen Table began in 2016, serving free meals to the community. The group, consisting entirely of volunteers, then joined the Pleasant Valley Auxiliary, becoming the outreach arm of that organization. Last year, The Kitchen Table, continued to host free meals, community cookouts, the Kid’s Kafe and the popular Lip Sync fundraisers.
The group will host a Lip Sync Battle at the Point Pleasant Sternwheel Regatta from 5:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., Saturday, July 1 in the amphitheater at Point Pleasant Riverfront Park.
Registration for the Regatta Lip Sync is 5 p.m., July 1 and is $5 per contestant. Acts can be solo or group of up to four contestants. There will be a first, second and third place winner in each age group. On the first 20 acts will be registered and able to perform. Contestants must bring music on a CD. Call and register early at 304-593-4149 or 304-674-5689.
