MASON COUNTY — Father’s Day will be highlighted during the June activities at both county senior citizen centers.
A celebration of dads will be held at the Gene Salem Senior Center in Point Pleasant on June 13 at 10 a.m. Fathers will be honored at the Mason Senior Center on June 16 at 10:30 a.m. There will be special events and refreshments for those attending.
Two presentations will be featured at the center in Point Pleasant during the month, including one on June 6 at 11 a.m. Ann Dalton will present “Medicare Savings Programs.” Sara Gore of Holzer Health System will present the second, titled “Medication Management and Monitoring Vitals.” It will be held June 27.
In addition, a representative from the Veterans Administration will visit the center on June 14 from noon to 2 p.m.
Regular activities at the Gene Salem center are bingo on Mondays and Fridays, the Senior Center Country Band on Wednesdays, and church services on Thursdays. All begin at 10 a.m.
In Mason, Dalton will make the presentation, “Medicare Savings Programs,” on June 21 at 11 a.m. Healthy Steps exercise classes will be held June 7, 14, 21, and 28, all at 10:30 a.m. The exercise classes can be done sitting or standing, and are aimed at making moving fun.
Regular activities in Mason are bingo on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and music on Fridays. All regular events begin at 10 a.m.
Meals are served at each senior center on weekdays at 11:30 a.m. Menus are available at the centers, or on Facebook at “Mason County Action Group, Inc.”
Both senior centers, as well as the action group business office, will be closed June 20 in observance of West Virginia Day.
