POINT PLEASANT — The County Community Foundation of Mason County (MCCF, Inc.) has set up a local office on Jackson Avenue in City National Bank and is encouraging gifts to its general community funds during this holiday season.
Included in these funds, the Mason County Scholarship Fund was created to provide college scholarships for local graduating seniors. Individuals, businesses, and organizations can make gifts to this fund in honor or as a memorial to special people and each year the annual scholarship award will be made in the honorees’ names. Gifts can also be made to the Mason County Community Support Fund. This fund provides annual grant support for community projects and programs in health, human services, arts, education, and recreation.
“This holiday season, instead of giving another tie or bottle of perfume; consider making a gift to the community in honor of the people on your list,” Christy Crowell, MCCF Inc. executive director said. “What a wonderful gift to give someone special this Christmas – a way to be forever remembered and honored for supporting the community they love. Making a donation in someone’s name allows the community foundation to honor these special person each year, gives the donor a tax deduction for the gift, and provides needed resources for community programs, projects and our students’ education.”
Since the separation of MCCF Inc. from its affiliate in December 2015, Crowell said MCCF Inc. has been thriving and is proud of its accomplishments, wishing to grow its presence in the county “as there is much need for our services here.”
The community foundation is working to add money to its Scholarship Fund and to its Community Support Fund this holiday season.
“The generosity of Mason County citizens will help the community foundation grow the general purpose scholarship fund to help our local students and increased grant resources to address critical community needs,” according to a statement from the MCCF.
