POINT PLEASANT — The office of the West Virginia State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate a house fire which broke out on Fifth Street, early Monday morning.

Point Pleasant Fire Chief Jeremy Bryant, said firefighters were actually called to the same home twice, once on Sunday morning around 12:40 a.m. and then, nearly 24 hours later.

Bryant said the first fire appeared electrical in nature and damage appeared contained to the attic area. When the second fire occurred early the next morning, it left the home as a total loss, he explained.

Bryant said the home was occupied prior to the first fire, but the residents were displaced after that first fire. He added, no one was home when the second fire occurred.

Bryant had no further comment as the second fire remains under investigation with assistance from the state fire marshal.

In addition to firefighters and two engines from the PPVFD on scene, there were personnel with Mason County EMS and the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, assisting as well.
