Second graders on how to cook the perfect turkey

POINT PLEASANT — With the biggest turkey day of the year having arrived, no doubt, many questions have been asked about how to cook the perfect bird.

Though many may have called their grandmother for advice, second graders in Elaine Hussell’s class at Roosevelt Elementary had their own thoughts on the matter of Thanksgiving Day recipes. Each student began their recipes with “There are many steps to follow when preparing a Thanksgiving turkey” and the following tips emerged:

First I bought it at Walmart. It was 70 pounds. It was large. Next, I put it in for one hour. I had it on 300 degrees. I put salt and pepper in it. I had stuffing. I had corn. I had chocolate pie. I was tired. Lylah

First It was 100 pounds. I killed it. It was large. Next I put it on 20 hours. The degree is 20. Last I had ham and chili and pumpkin pie. I felt good. Mackenzie

First I kill it. It weighs 75 pounds. It is large. Next, I put in pepper in it. It is 100 feet long. I put it on for 3 hours. Then, I put in stuffing. I put in chicken. I put in cherries. Jathan

First I kill it and it medium and it way 10 pounds. It is 8 degrees. It is medium. Next I cooked it for ten hours. Last I had mashed potatoes. I had green beans. It was good. Gavin

First I bought it at WalMart. It was large. It was 20 pounds. Next I put cherries on it. It was 300 degrees. I cook it 3 hours. Last there were chips. I fixed a pie. I fixed beans. I was tired. Cheyenne

First I got the turkey at Piggly Wiggly. It weighed 20 pounds. In the oven it was 100 degrees. I cooked it for 2 hours. Baked beans. I ate chips. I ate pumpkin pie. I feel happy. Josie

First I bought it from Walmart. It was 20 pounds. It was small. It was in there for 20 hours. There was salt inside of it. The oven was 20 degrees. Last there were apples. There were cupcakes. There were lollipops. I feel tired. Carson

First we get it at Walmart. It is large. It is twenty pounds. We put pineapples on it. We put it in the oven for 30 degrees. We put it in the oven for 20 minuets. We had stuffing, pumpkin pie, baked beans. Then we pray. I felt relieved. Owen

First I bought it at Walmart. It is medium and it is 20 pounds. I put stuffing in it. It is 4 degrees. I put it on 4 minutes. I eat boiled eggs and ham and mashed potatoes. I feel sleepy. Timmy

First I would go to Walmart. It was 10 pounds. It was very large. Next I skinned it. I cooked it for one half hour. I put the oven on one hundred fifty degrees. Last I had chips. I had pie. I had baked beans. I felt very happy when I finished. Reilly

First I kill a turkey. It weighs 70 pounds. It is large. Next I cook it for 3000. The oven is on 30,000 degrees. Last I eat stuffing. I eat pumpkin pie. I eat mashed potatoes. I feel good. Nathan

First I killed it. It weighs 60 Pounds. It is large. Next I put it on for 100 minutes. It is on 3075 degrees. Then I had corn on the cob. I had chips. I had pumpkin pie. Last I felt great. Shaylee

First I would kill it. Next it was 20 pounds. I put gravy on it. The stove was on 40 minutes it was on 25 degrees. Last I eat chips. I have beans. I had pie. I feel good. Austin

First I killed it. It is large. It was 10 pounds. Then I put it in for 12 hours. The oven is 13 degrees. I put pepper on it. Last to go with it I got mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing. I feel tired. Mirissa

First I buy it at Piggly. It is 102 pounds. It is large. Then I cook it for 12 hours. Next I have corn. Then I have green beans. Then I have mashed potatoes. I feel good. Last I am done now. I want it again. Today was great. It is fun. I love it. See you next year. Jayden

First I put cherries and pineapples in it. I put it in the oven for half and hour. I put it in the oven at 300 degrees. I sat out stuffing and pumpkin pie and turkey and peaches on the table. I felt good and tired. Wesley

First I killed a turkey. It was 50 pounds. It is small. Next I put salt on my turkey. The turkey was in for 40 hours. Then I put the chicken and pie and stuffing. Daniel
