Quilts ‘N Things Too recently met on Tuesday Nov. 3 at the courthouse annex.
Those present included Sue Brady, Barbara Brumfield, Gerry Duncan, Martha Friend, Marie Gravely, Mary Hendricks, Robin Jones, Carla King, Geneth Krebs, Joyce Gardner Lee, Judy McWhorter, Stella Morgan, Vicki Reynolds, Janice Vance, and Garnet Varian.
The meeting was opened with prayer by President Gerry Duncan. Supper was made and served by Carla King, Stella Morgan and Garnet Varian. A Thanksgiving theme was used for table decorations including cornucopias created from ice cream cones.
Birthdays in November were: Geneth Krebs on Nov. 3; Gerry Duncan on Nov. 20; Vicki Reynolds on Nov. 26.
Show and Tell included: Mary Hendricks showed quilts made by her husband’s mother and grandmother and her mother that they found when having their bathroom renovated. Martha Friend showed 10 minute table runners for Christmas that she had made. Marie Gravely reported on her success in working with the American Legion Post 23 in finding veterans to receive quilts made by guild.
Robin Jones reported on plans for the Christmas meeting and gave each member a bag with Christmas fabric and information about what to bring for the meeting.
On Sunday, Nov. 8 Marie Gravely, Judy McWhorter and Sue Brady were guests of the American Legion at their Veterans Day Dinner where they presented Patriotic Quilts made by Quilts ‘N Things Too to three veterans chosen by the American Legion. Recipients of the quilts were Milford Mowery, Paul Pickens, and Ron Plantz. The quilts were held up by Kathy Filkins chaplain of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and Sue Brady as each was presented. Mr. Mowery received his quilt but Mr. Pickens and Mr. Plantz were not able to be present and their quilts were presented to Barbara Plantz mother of Ron Plantz and Legion member Roy Cummings. Mr. Cummings and Jim Gravely also a member of the Legion delivered a meal and the quilt to Mr. Pickens.
