Annual outing of Pleasant CEOS Club

The Pleasant Club traveled to Jackson, Ohio for its annual outing on Aug. 17.

The trip had been planned by member Mary Sue Kincaid.

The first stop was the Jones Museum where members learned about some of the factories which had been a part of the history of Jackson and about the Jones family. Lillian Jones who left funds to establish the museum was a world traveler and a map was on display depicting those travels.

Members ate lunch at The Tea Caddy and dressed up in fancy hats and boas. Marsha Nibert remembered going to Columbus when the highway went through the city of Jackson and about an ice cream shop where they always stopped to get a treat. Members asked about this shop and learned that Michael’s Ice Cream Shop was still in business but in a different location right up the street from The Tea Caddy. They also told us about the “bubbles” sold there and so after eating lunch we walked to Michael’s and some enjoyed the bubbles which was much like a soda.

Members then drove to Guhl’s where they shopped and shopped. After getting back into our cars we went to the Four Mile Bakery to get doughnuts, etc. and then home.

Members recall “it was a delightful day” that needed to happen more often.

Taking the trip: Clinedda Austin, Mary Sue Kincaid, Catherine Yauger, Marsha Nibert, Linda Craig, Brenda Schultz, Donna Hart and one guest Ronna Wood.

Submitted by Club Secretary Catherine Yauger.
