PPHS Alumni Association Reunion held

The Point Pleasant High School Alumni Association celebrated it’s annual reunion on July 29, 2017 with a dinner and dance held at the National Guard Armory in Point Pleasant.

The invocation and welcome was given by Donald Waldie, president of the association. Waldie also asked for a moment of silence in memory of Denise Buchanan, who passed away last year. She had served the association in many capacities since it’s inception. The meal was catered by Wellington’s of Scarlet Oaks.

Following the dinner a short business meeting was conducted. The secretary’s report was submitted by Wilma Fisher and the treasurer’s report was submitted by Teresa Flowers and Debbie Young. An election was held to replace two positions in the association. Linda Lieving was nominated for Secretary and Kevin Fooce was nominated for the Board of Governors. The membership voted and unanimously approved both individuals. Following the election the scholarships were given out. The alumni association annually awards scholarships to three PPHS graduating seniors. The 2017 recipients were Bailey Calandros, Michaela Cottrill and Blake Hesson. The scholarships were presented to the students by Rick Handley, vice president of the association. Handley then recognized the anniversary classes in attendance.

Following the dinner and business portion of the evening, the scholarship winners helped the officers with raffle and door prize drawings. To end the evening a dance was held with music provided by deejay “Rockin’ Ronnie” Spencer.
