Avalanche CEOS Club news


LETART — The monthly meeting of Avalanche CEOS was held at the Country Corner Cafe in Letart on May 18. The meeting was called to order at 12:22 p.m. by President Patty Johnson, who lead the Flag Salute. Anne Byus gave devotions on What Prayer Can Do and we prayed The Lords Prayer.

Secretary report was read by Patsy Keathley and approved. Treasure report by Eleanor Hoffman, was approved. Nothing to be reported on Communications, Family or Continuing Education.

Marketing and Membership report: Sue Darst reported the Business Cards , flyers and signs are made. Avalanche is to bring desserts and the recipe to the plant exchange. Hoffman gave out signs for CEOS week and tags to put on flowers for the plant exchange. Marilyn reported the club read 434 books, 31 papers and 1 reading aloud. Johnson gave a lesson on Cooking For One.

Members broke for lunch at 12:40 p.m. and meeting resumed at 1:15 p.m. Old Business reports. Johnson reported 13 members from Avalanche Club attended the Spring Luncheon and discussed the Taste of CEOS Plant Exchange. A yard sale is planned for May 27 at the Annex. Rada Knives will be sold at Christmas Craft Show. New Business reports. Nina Jones revived the Avalanche Scholarship. Nina is granddaughter of our club member, Jane Roush.

Members discussed a day trip to Marietta and Hoffman read entries from 4-H members on why they want to go to 4-H Camp. Members chose two winners to pay for their camp cost. Meeting adjourned at 2 p.m., and an auction was held.
