The Kountry Kritters 4-H Club recently held its first meeting for the 2016-17 4-H year.
The meeting began with election of officers. The new officers are as follows: President Kate Henderson, Vice President Parker Henderson, Secretary Sarah Deem, Treasurer Kira Henderson, Reporter Nathan Wood, Historian Trinity Epling, Health Officer Maggie Kincaid, Song and Game Leaders Matthew Kincaid, Mark Kincaid, and Elyssa Fetty, and How How Leaders Levi Wright and Kelsey Henry.
All new officers were encouraged to attend Officer’s Training School on Oct. 24 at Bellemead Church. After the election of officers, pledges were led by several members and the club sang “West Virginia Boys and Girls.” Then, the treasurer’s report was given.
In old business, the club was reminded about the Block Party on Oct. 27. The club would be helping with games. The club would also be handing out water for the Walk for Women on Oct. 29.
In new business, the club voted to participate in the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 5. The club will also be participating in the Christmas Parade on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. by passing out hot chocolate. The Kountry Kritters will also be sponsoring a Christmas tree in Gunn Park again this year for the Light of Christmas tree project. More details will be provided at the next meeting. On Dec. 9, the club will be handing out cookies and hot chocolate at the farm museum. All members are asked to bring canned foods to the next meeting on Sunday, Nov. 20.
