Members of the Smith-Capehart American Legion Post 140 of New Haven fittingly led the parades in both New Haven and Mason Friday, carrying the American Flag.

April Lloyd and Sheila Roush of the New Haven Public Library show people that Americans are “Free to Choose What Book to Read” in the New Haven Fourth of July parade.

Dennis Harris of the Wahama High School Band Boosters had a hot job at the Mason Park Friday, as he tested the temperature of the chicken as it cooked for the boosters’ annual barbecue.

A water balloon toss was one of several games at the Mason Fourth of July celebration Friday at the park. Pictured is a group as they attempt to catch the balloons without getting drenched.

All of the festivities were just a little too much Friday at the Mason park for young Sophie Dennis, who couldn’t hold her eyes open any longer. She is the daughter of Donna and Andrew Dennis.

Abby Pauley, daughter of Brooke and James Pauley, is pictured as she sings karaoke at the Mason park Friday. The karaoke event was a popular one as many took the microphone into their hands for the first time.

The slip-and-slide was a popular event at the Mason Fourth of July celebration Friday. Pictured are children as they run through the sprinkler and into a pool of water at the end.

The line was long for the bungee jump Friday at the Mason park, as children took their turns jumping into the air. Other events at Mason included a cornhole tournament, basketball shoot-out and the band “Ragtop.”
