On Thursday, demolition crews began tearing down what was once a staple in Point Pleasant — the Appalachian Tire store. The store could be counted on for not only tires, a quick repair and oil change, but, this time of year, an air conditioner or a much-needed appliance could be purchased there as well. Though Appalachian Tire is gone, a new Auto Zone will go up in its place, according to Point Pleasant officials. No word on when that store will emerge on Viand Street and be open for business.
