Authorities are searching for the man they say robbed the PNC Bank at 411 Harding Ave., in Sciotoville, on Monday afternoon.

“A white male walked into the bank wearing a mask, demanded the money and got away on foot,” Portsmouth Police Detective Andy Dawes said. “Nobody was hurt.”

Dawes said the robber entered the bank and didn’t immediately brandish a weapon, but police are still investigating whether there was a weapon or not. Dawes said the call came in to the Police Department dispatch at 1:53 p.m.

“We’re looking for a white male that was dressed in blue jeans, a red or burgundy colored sweatshirt and a grey or tan hat,” Dawes said. “He was described as being anywhere from 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall, and anywhere between 150 and 170 pounds.”

Dawes said anyone with information as to the robbery or the person involved in the robbery, should call Dawes at the Detective Bureau at 740-354-1600 or the general police number, 740-353-4101. Dawes said callers may remain anonymous.
