Wahama moves on, rematch with Madonna awaits

November 16, 2013

The Wahama football team overcame a 19-14 fourth quarter deficit with 28 consecutive points over a seven minute span Saturday night en route to a 49-27 triumph over visiting Clay-Battelle in a Class A opening round playoff contest at Ohio Valley Bank Track and Field in Point Pleasant. The defending state champion White Falcons (10-1) improved to 8-0 alltime at OVB Field and will head to top-seeded Madonna (11-0) next weekend for a rematch of last year’s overtime thriller in the Class A final at Wheeling. It was the first playoff victory for interim WHS coach Dave Barr, who is a perfect 5-0 since taking over the program in Week 7. Kane Roush (15) scored four touchdowns in the win, including a 23-yard reception from Hunter Bradley in the first quarter. The duo celebrated Wahama’s first score of the night by leaping into one another to celebrate. The White Falcons — who have won five straight postseason games — will have presale tickets available at the school during school hours Monday through Thursday, as well as Thursday night at the school pep rally. Student tickets cost $5 apiece and adults are $7 each. All tickets the day of the game are $7 apiece. Complete details of the Wahama and Clay-Battelle football contest will be available in the Tuesday sports editions of the Point Pleasant Register, Gallipolis Daily Tribune and The Daily Sentinel.
