Portsmouth police have confiscated $15,000 in heroin in the arrest of a Portsmouth man. Ronald Gavin, also known as III Town, was arrested for possession of drugs, a first-degree felony, and a parole violation after being taken into custody.
At around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers of the Portsmouth Police Department and the Scioto County Common Pleas Court Probation Department, executed a home visit at the residence of Ali Thompson at 115 Boundary St., Apartment 13. Police Captain Lynn A. Brewer said the visit was conducted as a result of numerous complaints of drug trafficking at that location and a subsequent police investigation into the complaints.
Brewer said during the visit and search of the residence, officers recovered approximately 103 grams of suspected heroin with a street value of over $15,000. He said officers also recovered notes and documents indicating involvement of individuals at that location in drug trafficking.
Gavin was arrested and processed, then transported to the Scioto County Jail, pending his arraignment, which was Wednesday morning in Portsmouth Municipal Court.
Brewer said additional charges on Gavin and other individuals residing at the apartment will be presented to the Scioto County grand jury for indictment.
