OHIO VALLEY — The Riverby Theatre Guild (RTG), established in 2010 under the wing of the French Art Colony (FAC), is a theatre group for the community. The group presents performances, events, and outreach programming. Over the weekend, the RTG presented a performance of Les Miserables to a banner crowd both nights at the University of Rio Grande Fine and Performing Arts Centre.
According to FAC Executive Director Joseph Wright, nearly 900 tickets were purchased for the show. An iPad raffle was also held to help raise funds for the FAC — funds desperately needed to further the work of the Gallia County-based nonprofit.
In an open letter to the cast and crew of the musical, Wright expressed his sincere gratitude and pride.
“Thank you for working so hard to help fund this project. Your efforts and success ensure future projects like this,” said Wright. “Your work is helping turn the tides for the FAC. Just a year ago, our organization had approximately four years before we would have to close our doors forever — the economy has hit arts nonprofits very hard.
“We are doing good things. People are taking notice … and we are winning more grants [and other funding avenues],” added Wright. “Thank you for being part of the change … thank you for making a difference in so many ways.”
Future audition, performance and participation information can obtained by contacting the FAC at 740-446-3834.
