POINT PLEASANT — The Mason County Fair has a new fair queen.
During the popular, annual pageant, Haley Sturgeon of Gallipolis Ferry was crowned the 2013 Mason County Fair Queen. Sturgeon is the daughter of Rocky and Susan Sturgeon.
Sturgeon’s court consists of Miss Congeniality Mackenzie McClure of Letart, Third Runner-up Caroline Thompson of Letart, Second Runner-up Ashten Crank of Henderson and First Runner-up Kayla Thomas of Leon.
Miss Photogenic went to Kayla Thomas. The Top Evening Gown Award went to Haley Sturgeon. The Best Promotional Award went to Kayla Thomas. Winners in the fair parade float contest were Haley Sturgeon, first place, Ashten Crank, second place and Mackenzie McClure, third place.
The Brandy Barkey-Sweeney Community Service Award was presented by Barkey-Sweeney, who said the award was intended to recognize the contestant who took it upon themselves to go out into the community to be of help. This award was presented to Kayla Thomas. Thomas received a plaque and $50 cash.
Other young ladies participating in the pageant were Bre’Anna Ball of Letart and Kelsey Zuspan of West Columbia. Sturgeon was crowned by 2012 Mason County Fair Queen Madison Crank.
