One person shot dead in Glenwood

GLENWOOD — A person is dead after a fatal shooting at a home in the Southern end of the county.

Deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 4410 Chandler Ridge Rd. about 3:10 p.m. on Monday to investigate the shooting. Upon arrival, Sheriff Greg Powers said an adult victim was found dead on the scene.

Powers said the owner of the home on Chandler Ridge is cooperating and has been removed from the scene for questioning. The homeowner has not been named as the alleged shooter, according to Powers. However, Powers did say law enforcement does have a suspect in the shooting though the motive has not been established.

Personnel with the West Virginia State Police Crime Lab have been called to the scene to gather evidence and as Powers put it around 5 p.m. on Monday, “we’re just getting started” to figure out what occurred.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time so the family can be notified and the name of the alleged shooter is being withheld until law enforcement has a chance to sort out what happened at the crime scene.
