WELLSTON, Ohio — The Gallia Academy golf team posted a 29-shot victory over the field Wednesday night during a non-conference tri-match with River Valley and host Wellston at Fairgreens Golf Club in Jackson County.
The Blue Devils posted a winning team score of 163, finishing well ahead of the runner-up Raiders and their tally of 192. The Golden Rockets placed third with a team total of 200.
The GAHS duo of Dares Hamid and Zach Graham shared medalist honors on the day with a 4-over par round of 40. Rob Canady added a 41, while Sean Saltzgaber rounded out the team score with a 43. Also competing for the Blue Devils were Brady Curry (46), Logan Rosier (54), Bruce Moreaux (57) and Marcus Moore (59).
Logan Sheets and Jacob Gilmore both led the Raiders with matching 47s, followed by a 48 from Jordan Howell and a 50 from Dan Goodrich. Zach Morris (59), Jordan Swisher (63) and Cliff Chapman (74) also competed for RVHS.
Layne Bunnell paced Wellston with a 43, followed by Hunter Riepenhoff with a 45 and Coy Hanson with a 55. Dakota Riegel rounded out the WHS tally with a 57. Caleb Stanley and Kenneth Lemaster added respective rounds of 59 and 79.
