MASON COUNTY — “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Beginning next week, several locals will take what Matthew 7:7 says and apply it in order to prepare for the upcoming school year. It was reported that each one of the ten schools in Mason County have been “adopted” by a local church and members from those churches will be gathering at the particular school each night throughout the week to pray for the upcoming school year.

This week long event will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, and continue on a nightly basis through Sunday, Aug. 19, ending just before the first day of school, which is Aug. 20.

It was reported this event was first inspired by a movement called “The Jericho Project,” which is based off of the biblical story of Joshua and the city of Jericho. Each night, local church members will gather at each school location and proceed to walk around the building whilst praying for certain concerns regarding the school, such as abuse, addiction, and bullying. Much like the story of Joshua and Jericho, the members participating in this event are praying for the “walls” surrounding these issues to fall. It was also reported the prayer will be for Mason County children, teachers, and administrators.

Other locals are encouraged to attend at the school of their choice and aid in the efforts to prepare the 2012-13 Mason County school year. The schools and the church which has “adopted” it, as well as the contact number for more information on how to participate, is as follows:
